The Winding Road

It is crazy to say this is my last semester in school, like ever. Especially pairing it with my ever-changing passions. In the last 3 years, I learned how to crochet, discovered my passion for videography/journalism, dabbled with a blog, and now an online business. I never thought this was what my life would look like, but I feel like this is where I am meant to be. Where am I going next? I'm not sure. I plan to have a job with my degree. However, that is not what I am talking about. Yes, a job is important, but so is what you do outside of it. You are more than your job.

I like to imagine all kinds of wonderful things I could do like; moving to the city and being a big-shot girl boss, or having a small house, living out my cottage-core dreams with animals, and making homemade food. I dream big and that is sometimes scary.
People tell me I need to choose a path and stick with it, but where is the fun in that?

Have you ever seen a post that says, "I'm just a girl. I want to open a coffee shop/bookstore/flower shop, solo travel, or have my own apartment with a killer view"? Sometimes we can't choose just one path. We get pulled in different ways and it can be delightful and stressful. It's okay to want multiple things. I suggest you try out something and if it doesn't work that's okay. At least you tried. Wouldn't be worse if we never tried to accomplish our dreams. I would consider that a disservice. Our passions add so much light to this world. Even my blog and shop I have could fail, but I couldn't live without trying the things I've always wanted to do! Don't stress about which passion to do when there is free time. Do I crochet? Read a book? Write a book? It can be hard to choose one thing. I wish we could do them all at once, but sadly, we cannot. Take it week by week. This blog doesn't consume my life, it adds to it. Each of you has your own passions. Don't let those be something on the side. It's what makes you special! Set aside time during your week and don't let yourself burn out. If you are like me and are back to school, it can feel like you don't have time for anything else. I believe it's all in the organization and mindset. Don't let all of those thoughts crash down on you. Your passions are important to your livelihood and happiness. As I mentioned, I take it a week at a time. Set time in your busy schedule to have some "me" time. Even if it is only a half-hour or so. Draw a bit, go work out, or whatever you love to do. There are more hours in the day than you realize.

The trick to more time in the day...waking up early. I know how it sounds. Like an unbearable thing. Sleep is important, but I've come to realize that the more sleep I get, the worse I feel. Turns out my parents and grandparents were right. There is something so peaceful about early mornings. You can drink your coffee (or tea) and get some things done before work or school. This can be chores or assignments. You'll find that you have more hours in the day. My challenge to you is to try this. Get as much done as you can in the morning, so you have the rest of the day for other things like your hobbies. I promise it's rewarding.
