The art of starting over

Much has changed since the last time I wrote on this blog. I have a full-time job that I love, the cutest studio apartment, and I reside in a city that fascinates me. I'm right where I've always pictured myself to be.
I expected the stress over bills, job deadlines, etc. What I did not expect... was the loneliness. I have always thought of myself as an introvert, but what I've come to understand is that I've never not been around people. I fell into a sad routine, letting my job consume me. Here I was in a new city, but not exploring it. Then recently, I decided to switch gears and get out of my comfort zone. I joined a yoga class, got a library card, and made time to hang with others outside of work.
Now, you may wonder why I'm telling you all of this. It's to tell you that the jump from college to the job market is something no amount of preparation could truly prepare you for.
So, here's what we need to remember. We need each other to thrive. Isolation is so deadly. Speaking from my personal experience, the cure... is to start over. Get out and do something. This can be as simple as a walk or joining an organization. Just something to look forward to and that will support you.
It's okay to take a step forward and a couple of steps back. This time in our lives is something we've never experienced. It's messy and hard, but being okay with the "Art of starting over" will guide you through.
I hope all of you have a blessed week.
